Corporate Responsibility
What is CSR?
There are as many definitions as writers about Corporate Social Responsibility so arriving at a definition of exactly what it is becomes somewhat of a nightmare.
The definition that makes the most sense to me is that:
“Corporate Social Responsibility is the continuing commitment by business to behave ethically and contribute to economic development while improving the quality of life of the workforce and their families as well as of the local community and society at large"
How does it apply to a law firm?
Thing have moved a long way since the days when corporate responsibility was seen as a separate side to corporations, a side that somehow serves to offset the profit making fabric of an organisation.
Corporate Social Responsibility has become an integral part of many businesses and law firms. If managed properly CSR can greatly improve the way in which a law firm works in just about every field.
How does it apply to you?
CSR feeds into all aspects of people’s working lives from making sure that people progress in their careers to developing skills and ensuring diversity in the workplace.
The initiatives mentioned below represent just a fraction of those which people in the firm are involved with. For more opportunities keen an eye on the BTSS newsletters and the Corporate Social Responsibility page.
