The BTSS runs an action packed sports calendar, covering a number of sports, ranging from competitive competitions to fun and social events. The highlight in the BTSS sporting calendar is the Inter Firm Trophy, where firms from across the Birmingham region battle against each other in a number of competitions over six months in an attempt to be crowned Birmingham’s premier sporting legal firm. This year’s competition will see mixed events in football, netball, rounders, pub olympics, dodgeball and a school sports day competition. The BTSS netball and football leagues are also hugely popular. Fourteen firms compete in the ladies netball league and cup from May until February, whilst the six-a-side men’s football league and cup are equally popular. Golf, squash and basketball are three other sports in which the BTSS also organises leagues for trainees at Birmingham law firms. A variety of one off sporting events also take place throughout the year. From Wii games evenings to trips to professional sporting events, the programme caters for everyone, whether it be taking part in competitive matches, networking at sports events or just a bit of fun.
